Canadian-built Lancaster KB773 was assigned to No. 428 Squadron, where it flew an unknown number of operations. Reassigned to No. 431 Squadron she first flew as SE-A. When KB821 [SE-P] was lost, KB773 became the third Lancaster to carry SE-P and received nose art of young boy named "Pete" about to drop a bomb. F/O Bill Dowbiggin and crew were posted to the squadron in late January, 1945 and "P-Pete" became their Lancaster. They removed the 32 bombs previously painted on the aircraft and the name "Pete" but kept the nose art as in Clarence's painting. Bill and crew flew fourteen operations in KB733 and then returned the aircraft to Canada, landing at Dartmouth, Nova Scotia on 14 June, 1945.
