Battle of the Ruhr Begins

On March 5th 1943, the first raid in what would become known as the Battle of the Ruhr occurred as over 400 bombers attacked Essen, the industrial heartland of Nazi Germany. It included coke plants, steelworks, and ten synthetic oil plants. This video, the first of a series by 'Kelly's History', uses animation and various primary sources to present a remarkable visual presentation of the raid.
